All are welcome! Come out and see what we do, how we setup for and emergency and communicate with others all over the country. We will have Five fully operational stations up and running using Morse Code, Voice, and Digital modes, on all bands 2m 70 CM, 6 meter,10, 15 20,40 and 80 meter. Vertical, Beam and long wire antennas are used in a portable setup at a remote site with Emergency power!. AERO is part of the Maryland DC section and is proud to promote this wonderfully hobby we call Amateur Radio.
Our objective is to work as many stations as possible on any and all amateur bands (excluding 30,30,17 and 12 meter bands) and to learn to operate in a abnormal situations in less that optimal conditions. Field Day is open to all amateurs in the area covered by the FCC/RAC Field Organizes and countries within IARU Region 2. DX stations residing in other regions may be contacted for credit, but are not eligible to submit entries. We need operators and setup/teardown activities or lust come out and hang with us!. You don't have to be a club member to participate. Visitors are welcome and encouraged to come out and see how we communicate with other states during a simulated Emergency situation. W3PGA is one of the few clubs that operate out of a working Airport!
Stop by and you will be amazed at what we can do on short notice incase of a National Emergency!. During such an event cell and land line telephones may be down, infrastructure we all use daily ceases to function. Power failures and many other obsticals prevent the ordinary person from communicating. That will NEVER stop a Ham operator! Even if the Internet goes down we hams have a way to pass messages over a radio based system any where in the world with in 24 hours during an emergency.
You can see the Equipment we use and sit and listen to what we do on the air and the stations we contact all over USA and Canada! If your comfortable you can even make a contact yourself under a liscened Amateur's control! We operate Four stations on Emergency power and we have lighting and house power for everything but the Transmitters.
